A Liz Truss Show Analysis: Hapless Rants emanating from a Cupboard

In the lead-up to the premiere of her new YouTube series, a particular refrain was repeated incessantly: “They attempted to silence her.” Turns out they didn’t need to, as Truss was perfectly capable of accomplishing that feat solo.

A Belated First Appearance

Episode 1, she announced on social media, was scheduled to drop Friday evening at six. However, on Friday at 6pm, there was no sign of it. By 6.05 with still no sign, her supporters became impatient. “Where is the episode?” came the social media queries. Additional minutes elapsed. “Seriously, Liz, pull it together,” posted another user. By 6.20 the situation suggested that her command of the video platform's publishing process as she did of the UK's economic landscape.

Subsequently, against all odds, The Liz Truss Show went live. A full hour late. It is assumed since Liz Truss has yet to master the concept of daylight saving back from British Summer Time.

A Truly Unhinged Opening Monologue

Thus, an inauspicious start. But at least it was swiftly succeeded by among the most spectacularly odd introductory rants one can recall. “You’d have to be consuming mainstream media to be unaware of the country's downward spiral,” Truss began, positioned within a confined area furnished with the type of volumes typically purchased for ambiance.

The thrust of this address became obvious: The nation is in a dire state. “Local shops are closing. Major corporations are departing … People are having to pull their own teeth out,” she groaned. We live in a lawless, leftist, religiously extreme nightmare. Were they to produce the classic sitcom now, she said, the iconic bureaucrat might be reimagined as “an extremist transgender campaigner”. To make matters worse, UK citizens don’t realise this since the media, preoccupied with upscale cafes and private estates, refuse to tell them the truth.

Her online program stems from a desire for American adoration, even though the only thing the U.S. public recalls about her involves the time she presented her book the wrong way up on Fox News once.

A Transatlantic Primary Goal

Here it became painfully clear the show's fundamental purpose. Ignored domestically so completely that she went unrecognized at a public event, her hopes are now vested on gaining acceptance from U.S. conservative circles. The premiere's rant was nothing more than a laundry list of Make America Great Again clichés about the British. She aspires to be a modern propagandist for Trump, or at least a portrayal of the wartime broadcaster who looked and sounded like a bucket of spanners had clattered onto his skull.

Uncomfortable Interviews

Monologue done, the program moved to interviews with her first guest. Leading off was a certain commentator, described as “the top Substack writer in Britain”. We’ll have to assume he participated as, for an abnormally long amount of time, the shot stayed fixed on the host. On one occasion, as soon as Goodwin started talking, the camera lingered on the host for nearly a minute. I don’t know whether anyone has endured forty seconds observing Liz Truss silently blinking and swallowing, yet it is a truly unsettling image. It is not an experience to be recommended.

After a brief chat with the next participant – a podcaster in a ‘FREEDOM’ T-shirt – the program proceeded to an ex-Member of the European Parliament another commentator, who, as expected frothed on about immigration. The remarkable aspect about her interview was its conclusion, ending jarringly at the point where she started along a questionable path concerning how to "persuade" documented foreigners to leave the UK. What was the reason? Could her words have been deemed unacceptable, or was it those elusive powerful forces censoring her once more? It is likely a mystery.

A Tragic Project

It is remarkable to consider this whole endeavour exists purely because Truss's craving for American affection, despite the only thing the U.S. remembers related to her is her televised blunder with a publication on Fox News once. Consequently she’s resigned to this ranting in a shoebox via the web, akin to an early casualty in a cinematic tragedy. It’d be tragic if it were not so profoundly foolish.

The next installment of The Liz Truss Show will be aired the following Friday evening. This is, assuming that Liz Truss has figured out the functioning of timepieces prior to that date.
