The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film debuted, launching Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the plot but leaving fans wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang
The preview shows the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items find good homes.
Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge pinned to her outfit.
It is hoped she is still the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
